Lots of Love Crochet Cup Cozy

I love a good beverage cozy and the Lots of Love Crochet Cup Cozy is the perfect one for Valentine’s Day! Super quick and easy to make, you can crank these out for all those coffee lovers for Valentine’s Day.

I wanted to have something with hearts on it and trying to figure out how to do that without doing a single crochet graph was initially a little challenge, but then it hit me. It was easier than I thought and I think you will like it, too.

These cup cozies aren’t just for beverages though, and also not just coffee. They fit 20oz to-go cups of any beverage–hot or cold–that you crave. Guess what? They also fit pint-sized ice cream tubs! You know those Ben & Jerry pint sized ice creams? Yep. It fits those! They also fit the small and medium sized cups you get ice cream in at an ice cream shop! I’ve even used mine around a can of soda. So versatile!

About the Pattern

For the Lots of Love Crochet Cup Cozy, you will need some materials, of course, but you will also need to pay attention to the wording in the pattern, due to the hearts. To make the hearts, you will need to chain up a certain number of chains, then work into that chain to make the heart, then continue working along the regular stitches until the next heart is made. It makes more sense when you see the pattern.

Materials Needed

You will need about 90 yards of 100% cotton yarn in Worsted/Aran/Medium weight, in two colors. I chose pink and red from Paintbox Yarns because I am in love with their cotton yarns. If you don’t want to wait on an order, I highly recommend Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton because it’s even softer and more amazing! If you need help finding a yarn local to you, go to www.yarnsub.com and put in the yarns I recommend in the search field and it will find other yarn brands that are a close match!

I used a 4mm crochet hook to keep the stitches more defined and pretty. I used a Prym hook, which I love.

A tapestry needle for weaving in the ends.

Scissors (seems obvious!)

Stitch markers–I used these to mark where the hearts would go but they can also be used to mark your last stitch of the round, to mark the top of the chain where you will work the triple crochet stitches, or to hold your work if you have to put it down unfinished.

Notes About the Pattern

The pattern is first worked flat to create the ribbing. After joining the ends of the ribbing, you’ll then be working in the round. Exactly like a bottom up beanie is done.

There is also an option to work one more row of single crochet if you want the cozy to be as tall as the hearts, or leave it the original way.
